Our highest priority is the safety and security of students participating in our programs. Our staff has dealt with international crises in the past, and we will continue to maintain standard practices as we monitor the status of current and future programs. As always, we will evaluate all public announcements and advisories given by the U.S. State Department (www.state.gov/travel). We will remain in frequent contact with our resident directors and faculty directors at our program sites, and, if necessary, consult with other study abroad professionals administering programs at those same sites.
At this time no University of Delaware programs have been cancelled due to current international tensions. While we have no immediate plans to cancel programs, we will evaluate programs on a case by case basis and determine their feasibility based on information gleaned from the State Department, our faculty and staff abroad, international education colleagues at other U.S. colleges and universities, and multiple news sources.
Our guiding principle with regard to program cancellation will be whether there is a clear and present danger to students at the program site, and whether local circumstances are affecting the students and program activities over a sustained period. We are optimistic that our current and upcoming programs will take place as planned.
