Study Abroad - Payments & Refunds

Students who study abroad on a University of Delaware program pay a program fee, tuition for their courses, and (in Winter/Summer only) a registration fee. Program fee amounts are posted on the individual program's website. Program fees usually cover round-trip airfare, housing, and all excursions. Your specific program fee may or may not include these and other items, check with the faculty director for details.

Program fee payments are due on specific deadlines and can be paid on-line via direct bank transfer: http://www.udel.edu/studyabroadpayments. Non-UD students only may pay their program fee by check (made payable to the University of Delaware, sent to CFIS, 186 S. College Ave., Newark, DE 19716). Payments may not be made by credit card. Students are billed separately for tuition and registration fees.

Students may check their payments and program fee balance by logging into their application here.

Refunds

If you would like to withdraw your application and request a refund of your deposit, do so here.

Program fee payments are generally considered non-refundable. The following exceptions apply:

  1. If you withdraw your application before the application deadline, or if you are not accepted, you receive a full refund (after approximately 10-14 business days).
  2. If you withdraw after the deadline, or after being accepted, you may be eligible for a partial refund if funds have not already been spent on your behalf. Complete the forms found here to make your request.

For UD students, refunds are posted to the student's UD student account, viewable through UDSIS. Once the funds are posted, click on the "financial" links within UDSIS to request a check or a direct deposit to your bank account. For non-UD students, because you do not have UDSIS access, a check will automatically be sent to your home address.
